Rear drop out spacing question

My 1984 Trek 720 currently has the original 6 speed wheel set-up it came with.

I want to get the rear spread out to 130 mm so I can put a 9speed hub and cogs on it. Once I do that will my old wheel still fit on it? Or will I need a longer axle?

You are having the rear spread so you can fit a wider 9 speed hub and you're asking if your old hub will still fit?

Sydney must be in a good mood today.
