Does anyone know if Sew-Ups can be glued to a clincher rim, its seems like it could work. I've got some old rims from my bridgestone RB that I thought were tubulars(due to the original tires sticking to the rim) and got some sew-up tires for them. When I finally sat down to change them I found out the wheels were just really thin 3/4"-1" clincher rims. If I can't use em I still can keep them as spares for my new wheels. Thoughts?

My $.02 is that you may be able to sort of mount them on the rim but not ride them safely, they wan't stay. The sew-up rims have this round inner surface where the tubular sticks to (with tubular cement), something you wan't be able to do with a clincher rim. Buy clinchers.

I already have some tubs for my bike, I am using my old wheels for a friends bike, thought I'd save him some bucks by just mounting these tires instead of him buying new tires and tubes.

As noted above, don;t even think about that. A sewup needs a solid glue job contacting the full inner surface of the rim, without which you're guaranteed to 'roll' a tire, and it always happens to the front wheel first; and the worst kind of tire 'mechanical' you can have (relating to potential injury and lost epidermis) is one on the front, in a turn, at some speed.
I've seen and also felt the outcome of these, 1st hand - don't go there.

Sell the sewups on ebay, get some clinchers. Depending on what they are, I might even buy them...

Or you could use Tufo tires, which are tubulars designed to be mounted on clincher rims. Kind of defeats your purpose because of the $ involved. What would friend do in the event of a flat? (www.tufonorthamerica.com)
