Q: minimum psi for michelin hi-lite comp 700 x 23c

That's right, I know the max psi is 110 but I have an aluminum fork on my raleigh rt600 (11 yr old) frameset. I'm running classic michelin 700 x 23c hi-lite comp tires inflated to 110 psi max...the ride is very tight and bumpy...what is the minimum inflation for these tires? I'd like to start there and go up as needed to help compensate for the stiff ride.

All replies are welcome. Thank you, cb

I'm not sure, but be careful if you start experimenting with lower pressures because you may be cruising along on 80psi (that's just a guess) thinking it's great a comfy, then take a hard corner, and you're on the ground

It would depend somewhat on what you weigh

Probably 100 or so.

How much do you weight?

I'm safe when I run 80, but I only weight 115.

Thanks for replying from down under...i'm 5'7" 148lbs...maybe i should back off from the max and go from 110 psi to 105 and down from there, but not much, based on what you said about taking a turn and going down...what do you think?

Roughly 100 should be safe, although I'd run 110 just to be sure...

I weigh 145lbs and run my 700x23C tires at 100psi rear and 95psi front. If I know I'll be riding rough roads, I'll drop that another 5-10 psi.
