so I picked up some sugino crank mighty cranks on ebay and people advised me to get the sugino buttom bracket -- so I did.

I just got a call from the LBS and they said the cranks are too short for the frame? It's an 01 bianchi pista frame and I thought it was going to be fine.

is there anything I can do?

the cranks shouldn't be too short, but the bottom bracket spindle might be.

the spindle length is 109mm, and everything I read told me to get that one. I guess the crank was hitting the chainstays.

Measure the width of the Bianchi's BB shell. If it's Italian standard 70mm, instead of English/ISO 68mm, you will need 2 extra mm of spindle length to compensate. I suspect you'll have to go even longer, e.g. 113mm, to make sure the cranks don't strike the frame. Also, it wouldn't hurt to ask which crank (or both?) is striking the chainstay, in case there is any problem with BB centering or backward installation.
