sugino 75 BB question

I need to replace the bottom bracket on my existing fix gear bike which has a sugino 75 crankset. What are the specs am I looking for a replacement bottom bracket if i cant find a sugino? I heard that a shimano 109 or 110 BB will fit? When I pedal it sounds as if the bearings inside the cup are grinding together, should i replace the axle as well? I need to know what are the sizes and specs I need for replacement parts so i can search for them online.

The correct spindle is a Sugino SG-75 109mm with ISO, not JIS taper. It's in the QBP catalogue and there is an online version at www.harriscyclery.com

Have you actually opened it up and had a gander at your bits and pieces? Sometimes just cleaning it out carefully with a rag, a toothbrush and some degreaser will solve some problems, then you re-assemble carefully with some thick grease. That's why I really like adjustable bottom brackets.
