Tool suggestions

To date I do most basic things on my own. However I have spent a lot of money in some key areas of my bike. Rear hub, casset, freeRing (arg), pedals and bb. This is pretty common but when all is said and done labour can cost upwards of 200$ to get work done on these parts.

So this fall and winter I want to focus on some of the skills required to fix these parts. So any tool suggestions would be useful.

I currently own full set of allen keys, chain breaker, screw drivers. I am thinking of getting a stand and a truing stand. Any other suggestions please. Thanx.

Maelstrom,
Look at my long reply on the Building your own bike thread. I tried to give a good list of the few specialized tools a home mechanic may need. There are many others, of course, but when it gets right down to it, there aren't that many you really need, and they aren't that expensive.
Regards,
Raymond

Tools you need depend on the type BB,HS,hubs and other things on your bike or bikes. Buy the book 'zZinn and the art of road or mtb bike maintenance', which has a rundown on all tools and their uses..Don't forget a 15mm cone wrench. It makes a great pedal wrench even if your bike has cartridge hubs.
