Difference between ramped and non-ramped chain rings

Can anyone please explain the difference....and how do I tell which one is on my bike.

An unramped ring is just that.Plain vanilla, no ramps, nada, nothing, just teeth.

here you go:

ramp: a cutout in a cog or chainring for the chain to seat into to facilitate smoother shifting.

pin: a round protrustion on the backside of chainrings to facilitate easier chain engagement, often used in conjunction with ramps.

Knowing that, you can figure it out. as for performance difference, it just makes things a bit smoother as far as shifting goes.
