Bottom Bracket Problem?

I bought an 05 Cannondale R1000 two weeks ago. I've been riding it pretty hard, 600+ miles so far, on 6 days a week. About a week ago, a week sqeaking started come up from the bottom bracket area, but I thought this was part of the "break in" process. Well, now it sounds like something is being ground up inside of there. It happens when the right hand crankarm is pointing straight up from the ground. What could this problem be?

I think if you've got grinding going on in there your BB bearings are fubared. The squeaking is one thing but grinding sounds like pieces that are supposed to be smooth are no longer so.

I'd take it back to the shop you purchased it at and have them check it out.

Cheers

yeah that sounds fesable, either that or you have got grit inside the bottem bracket, if you have a bottem bracket remover, use it and then try cleaning and re greasing the bearings, i would think this could fix it because its hard to belive the bottem bracket would wear down qo quickly, unless maybe it was a faulty one. Well you may aswell try doing this if you got the tools because the worst that can happen is its still the same as it was before.

Problems in two weeks? This is a straightforward warranty issue. I would take the bike back to the shop and explain the problem:- don't try and do anything yourself as this could only confuse matters with the guarantee etc.

Good luck,

Ed
