changing gears

i'm on a giant ocr3 06 model. triple ring on front, sora shifters and 8 speed cassette. On middle front ring should i be able to accesss all 8 rear gears without rubbing on de-railer.
any help greatly appreciated.

Well, maybe. If the middle CW is very close to the midline between the 4th and 5th cassette and you are meticulous in your adjustment of the FD lineup you might get a minimal chain rattle. It is better to assume a chain rattle and decide whether you want this at the small or large end and set it up that way. If the CW lineup is such that the middle CW is not centered you will not be able to achieve a no rub state. Rub is an indicator you should shift to another CW.
