Advice on Canti brakes
Hello all, im thinkuing of changing my brakes from Xt v brakes ( nightmare to set up and old) to some cantilever style brakes like the shorty from avid, is this possible to do without changing over my levers, as it stands i have Xt mtn bike levers and would want to keep them. Im in the middle of a tour from Alaska to Argentina and am fed up with the constant problems of the Xt v brakes so need to find a way around this problem.
Is it possible or what would be your suggestions, do i have to buy a new set of v brakes, if i want to keep the levers i have
Thanks for your time.

I've been told that XT brake levers take up from slack than STI levers. And you can run canti's on STI levers just fine. So, reason would have it that if anything you'd have to worry about too much take up, I.E. braking too fast. I'd imagine that by increasing the length of the stradle cable (brake to brake) things should be just fine.
