Jeep Bicycle Derailleur Hanger

Hello,

I have just joined this forum and am a bit desperate to get my bicycle fixed.

I have a Jeep Wrangler bicycle, I was riding along a trail back from work last week when my chain started making wierd noises about a second later my derailleur hanger snapped in two and fell off. I went to the bike shop downtown and they said that each bike's derailleur hanger is different and that they don't carry Jeep parts and to look online. I have looked almost everywhere and I can't seem to find one for my bike. The part itself doesn't seem too expensive I just dont know where and which one to buy. I went to derailleurhanger.com and they had ones for jeep bicycles but none of them look exactly like mine. Mine is snapped in half and kind of warped so im just not sure what it is supposed to look like. I was wondering if anyone had the same bike as me that has had similar problems that might be able to give me some advice.

A photo of what yours looks like (the two pieces set next to each other as it was pre-break) may help. derailleurhanger.com has the biggest selection I've seen to date. From what I know of 'Jeep' branded bikes, they're big-box sports department store bikes that are not likely to have standard parts, nor very good customer service to get replacement parts for. You may get some 'go buy a decent bike from a local bike store' responses, but short that if everything else on the bike is of working shape - a new frame with a standard hanger perhaps? But only if you are confident you're skillful enough to accomplish a frame swap.

Here are pictures of both the front and back of the derailleur hanger. I was actually considering buying a new bike but then I thought to myself if most replacement derailleur hangers are $8-$30 and new bikes are around $350 it would probly be a lot better to try and see if I can get it fixed. I like my bike a lot and if it can be fixed I would rather do that.

Wow, Jeep makes bikes. Maybe Kentucky Fried Chicken should make bikes too.

Imagine how much you'd like a quality bicycle then. Instead of one you can get at Mr. Toys .com

Very helpful.

Sorry I can't help you Serial. You should be able to find a replacement. You might try the store you got the bike at or one that carries them like the link posted above. No need to dump the whole bike and get a new one. That would be pretty wasteful IMO. Good luck.

I am in hawaii right now so finding anything anywhere at a store is pretty much impossible. I bought this bike off of a friend before he left the island and am not sure what store he had bought it from. It gets me through the 12 mile trek to and from work normally and I haven't had any problems with it until now so if it a simple repair I really don't see any reason to buy a new bike.

#47 Looks kind of close but mine doesn't have the fat part of metal and has a sharp angle where it is supposed to fit in. I looked more into the site and I can just send them the pictures and hopefully they will find one for me that will fit properly, if not then at least I will get my money back. I am gonna send them the pictures now and I will let everyone know how it goes.
