Are cantilevers all the same?

I salvaged a pair of cantilever brakes from a MTB frame with 26" wheels. I'd like to use the brakes on a touring frame with 700c wheels. Will the mounting arm spacing compensate for the different wheel size, or, to put it another way, can I use the same cantilever arms on both frames?

Finally, where is a good source for cantilever hardware (cable hangers WITH adjusters, center thingies for the cross cables, and cantilever cross cables)? Nashbar didn't seem to have much...

Try Bike tools Etc (www.biketoolsetc.com) and Loose Screws (www.loosescrews.com) for the various canti parts you are looking for.

The mounting posts define how the brakes line up with the rims so pretty much any canti can be used on any frame/fork with appropriately located posts.
