V-brake rattle
I recently got an older Trek 7000 mtb. It's a nice ride, but the V-brakes are rattling on rough terrain. I have XT v-brakes with paralellogram construction. Is there something I can do about this?

I'm no expert by any means but maybe if you move the adjustment screw that controls the tension that eventually might work increasing the tension.
My two cents,

It's not the spring tension. The brakes are centered and nicely responsive. It's almost as if they are loose on the bosses, but I tightened them down properly.

There's not much to the V-Brakes, so if you tightened the bosses and I assume the return springs are not out of place - not sure what else. Can you jiggle what's loose (arms, pads, springs...)?

I can jiggle the arms a bit back and forth on the bosses. I know the bike was originally equiped with cantilever brakes. Could it be that bosses for canti's are slightly different? Perhaps a washer on the bosses could solve the rattle?
