Bottom Bracket 6500 vs 7700

Bottom Bracket 6500 vs 7700
I am moving a full DA 7700 drive train over to a new frame, and then putting some older components back on the old frame. I have an Ultegra 6500 bb that is not currently being used. Is it worth the effort to remove the DA bb from the old frame move it over to new frame and then install the Ultegra bb in the old frame, or should I just use the ultegra bb with DA group and save myself the trouble?

7700 bottom brackets are not sealed units like the 6500 unit. Because of this, they commonly get water inside which rusts/pits/distroys the needles and races. You should take it out of the frame and clean it out using mineral spirits regardless of which bb you are intending to use on the new frame. Once you have it all cleaned up, you can decide which one to use. I've used both and feel the 7700 is not worth the maintainance work just to save a little weight.

Good point, i completely forgot about that. It spins perfectly, but I probably should check to see if its still in good shape

Funny, I live in the Northwest and get plenty of rain. I choose the DA BB because it is rebuildable (the Utegra is not). I can keep some Phil Wood grease on it and adjust out any roughness once or twice a year. Keep in mind it rains a lot up here.
