Another suspension to rigid fork conversion

I have a RockShox SL Ti suspension fork on a Diamondback Axis TT. I'd like to swithch to a rigid (probably Ti) fork. The suspension spring is sprung - so I can't easily measure the travel. Should I relieve the pressure (actually vacuum) on the hydraulics and pull the suspension to full extension and measure there? Can anyone tell me the specs? Would having the original specs help me define the dimensions of a suspension-corrected fork or just add confusion? Any recommendations for making measurements or choosing a fork? Thanks

Having the model year of the bike and the original specs will go a long way towards answering your question

Thanks for responding, Raiyn. I agree - specs it is...

Fork is 1994 RockShox Mag 21 SL Titanium. It took a lot of searching to find the model - it has no "Mag 21" stickers and what do I know? With that I found specs, maintenance manuals and maybe even a source for a rebuild kit. For the record it has 46 mm travel and axel to crown = 406 mm. I think I have enough to spec a new fork - and rebuild the old!

There is no rebuild kit available for the Mag 21.

I'd found a bike shop web page with pricing for the kit but when I called they were long out of stock.
