New Seatpost or Just New Clamp?
I have a circa-90's 26.2 seatpost with what I can only describe as a pivoting clamp. If I don't take my weight off my seat on each little bump from a root to a sidewalk curve I end up tilting the seat back and forth. I've tightened the bolt that looks to hold the pivot clamp together but it keeps loosening.
I went looking today to find a seatpost with a newer style clamp (like the kind on my '05 road bike - I don't know what that kind is called either), but have found that they are all now 27.2 sized. I'm not sure what to look for online, as searches for 26.2 seatposts brought up seatposts with no seat clamps! Which leads me to believe my seatpost is fine but I maybe able to just change out the clamp.
1) Can I just change the clamp ... and to what? Do they make a clamp like the one on my road bike for my old 26.2 seatpost? And what would it be called?
2) Anyone know where I can go online to buy a 26.2 seatpost with integrated modern clamp (do these exist?)
I am going thru the same thing now. I am trying to update an older clamp and steel post. Cambria bike has a 26.2mm, Black, Kalloy UNO, 350mm, 6061 forged AL. I think it is 300 grams and the price is 24.95. The picture on their web site looks pretty good.
That's perfect! Exactly what I was looking for
