My cassette seems to wobble a bit...

Had my bike in the living room today, checking it over. I hand pedaled it to let the back wheel spin. While spinning, everything seems fine, but noticed that the cluster seemed to have a lit bit of play in it, like it could a bit.

Is that normal, but I never noticed it before because I never looked close enough?

Freewheel types(thread on) will have a super slight amount of play in them. If its alot youd know its done cause it will skip.

Cassetts shouldnt have play. If it does its either the cassett loose on the free hub, or the freehub is wearing out. Ride it untill its loud!

When freewheeling, even a cassette will exhibit a small amount of wobble due to the freehub.

A small amount of play is normal any more than that and I would tighten it if you have the tools if not a quick trip to the LBS would ease your mind.

Thanks for the replies folks. Of course, I don't exactly know what's "normal" since this is the first time I've noticed it, but it doesn't seem out of the ordinary. I stop by my LBS every other week anyway, so i'll ask them next week. They are super dudes there. Much like here!
