sounds annoying sounds
hi,
recently got a new mountain bike, and some sounds are driving me nuts.
when i use the third gear on the front and the first gear on the rear, i hear a sound , sounds like the chain is rubbing against the front derailleur, but i'm not sure.
and when i'm using high gears, like third gear in front and 8th gear at the rear, when i step down with my right foot, i hear a creaking sound, once again i think its the chain rubbing against the front derailleur, but i'm not certain.
I can't cycle like this... haha... can someone please solve this conumdrum of mine... thankew

You shouldn't use the largest ring up front with the largest rings in the rear and same goes for the smallest ring up front with the smallest rings in the rear. It puts the chain at an angle and puts a lot of stress on your drivetrain. That angle of the chain is also why it is rubbing with your front derailleur. Your middle ring should be able to handle all of the gears but if it starts rubbing on the front derailleur than switch to a different ring.

ok thanks.
so theres nothing wrong with the positions of the derailleurs?
and what about when i use the largest rings up front and the smallest rings at the rear, theres a creaking sound when i step down on the right pedal, i don't think i'm putting the chain at an angle, so what could the problem be?
