Colnago dropout material?

Have an 02 CT-1 Bstay and the paint has chipped/flaked off one of the rear dropouts. There is now a chalky residue on the dropout now due to moisture, etc. What material is the dropout made of and what is the best prep and paint for the metal? Sydney?

If the residue is chalky white, the dropout is most likely aluminum. A quick test with a magnet should confirm that. Clean off the corrosion and repaint with anything recommended for Al.

Paint on dropouts lives a precarious existance at best so try to clean and dry the area if you get caught in the rain.
