upgrade to sram, will fit bike?

I am thinking of upgrading my Durango sx Jamis to sram x.9 gear, as well as 970 sram cassette and 990 powerglide chain thing. The bike is 8 speed ****ty components (v-power shifter/lever, acera from deralliur, deore back, truvative something) so I was wondering if the new 9 speed cassette and chain would work on my bike, and yes I am upgrading shifters as well

Thnx
