I was just looking at Mavic's site. It looks like it's been updated for 2006. Notably absent is the good ol' MA3. Instead we have a fresh face in the Mavic Open Sport, the "new entry level classic rim". Can someone confirm that I'm reading this right?
What about those of us with MA3 wheels? Does the Open Sport have a similar geometry or should I go aheald and grab a new MA3 while I can to fix up that wheel with the slightly crunched rim?

Yup, ERD. That's my guess too. It really makes more sense, both from a manufacturing sense and for the end user who now has the flexibility to inexpensively upgrade their wheels if they so desire (which is what I would like to do with my whacked MA3).

Arrrgh! It's true. I just stopped into my favorite LBS and they're plum out, at least 32h, but they haven't gotten any stock of the Open Sport. Stock up now if you want some!

I will look into it. Mavic has gotten a kick out of renaming the same old thing as of late.
I can't believe I am even saying this, BUT, look at sites like nashbar and such. They usually burn old inventory for nothing. I have seen outdated rims go for less than $10

Nah, my 2nd to favorite LBS still has 8 in stock so I'm swinging by tomorrow afternoon to get the hookup.
