Help needed modifying Ergon Grip

Hey

Does anyone know if I can cut down the right hand grip of the Ergon MR1

so that it can accomodate a Shimano Nexus 8 shifter (Model SL-8S20)? Or would the shifter be too long to make this work? Is the Ergon easy to cut to length?

Also is it possible to mount a bar end mirror like this BUSCH & MULLER Cycle Star Mirror

(or some equivalent) with the Ergon MR1 fitted? I'm wondering if the end cap on the MR1 can be removed and the mirror mounted inside?
