Cable routing question
hello, i have a older Steyr ladies frame that im am building up for my wife so she will go riding with me...
my question is...
it had simplex downtube shifters clamped onto the downtube, i would like to get theumb shifters up on the bars.
is there a clamp made so i can have cable go to where the shifters were? or something like that.....
i basically want to give her index shifting and thumb shifters....
my question is...

man, i have no idea. ill have to measure. so how are "ladies" frames usually routed for the rear brake? the rear brake on this thing is a weird dual piviot sidepull thing. and the cable goes down for the back brake. its made in germany.....

Unique Vintage Steel
step through frames that I"ve seen - the rear brake follows the 'top tube' like one would do if it were a standard frame, then bends upwards along the seat tube before turning into the brake. Basically, route it like it makes the mose sense. That cable stop you linked to should work as long as the frame is your standard steel size tubing.

Neat old bike. Man, look at that rake! It should be a VERY smooth ride and really suck up the bumps. I'll bet your wife is going to love that bike; steel frame, big swooping rake. That is going to be a sweet ride. Are you going to paint it? Be sure to get her a nice saddle. Women are very particular about saddles and it can be frustrating for us fellows to be patient. Set her up with a good LBS that will let her try out different saddles until she finds the one she loves.
Just get long enough cables and route the cable housing right to the derailures. You can use cable ties to hold the cables close to the down tube. Most garden variety cables are long enough to go straight from the bars to the derailures.

yeah, i hope she like it. its hard for her to go up hills with her 3-speed. i think ive got the cabling question figured out, i just need a "Stop" to bring the shifters on the bars.this is the bike im going crazy with for the cottered cranks. haha, almost ready to be painted..... haha
