Hayes So1e - How Replace Lever Body
Hi,
Recently I snapped the BODY of my hayes so1e lever assembly. (Note: I haven't broken the lever or master cylinder).
Now, after asking a couple of local bike stores (adelaide) I have discovered that dirtworks currently dont have a replacement so1e lever body, lever or kit. Consequently, everyone recommends a HFX-9 lever body assembly (ie the whole lever body and cylinder to avoid the pains of assembly) for A$150.
Now, being stubborn, I found a Hayes so1e body in the US. Probably with shipping it'll be about A$50.
I also found a WHOLE slightly used PRE-BLEED so1e kit (front and rear, levers, calipers, rotors) for A$150
The whole kit temps me coz it'll give me a set of spare pads and it comes ready to install, but I'm thinking I can get out of the whole mess with the US body a bit cheaper. But I have a sneaky feeling, however, that the pain of buying the body, plus the cost to bleed the thing wont outweight a whole ready to go set (with additional spares) for ~A$150. Any insight into what would be involved, parts, procedure would be good (hayes' site is useless)
Being a novice to the whole hydra brake internals thing I'm not exactly sure what I should do.
Cheers
