Will LBS carry axles for hubs?

I messed up the axle for my hub. I found it hard to screw back a locknut and forced it in and now it is stuck on the axle. Because of this, the spacers, bearing cones etc... on that side of the axle are stuck there too. I am able to remove because the other side parts can be removed fine.

Since this is an old nothing special kind of bike, It's really not worth buying a new wheel, nor will it be worth my time buying a new hub and putting in the spokes.

Getting to the point:
If I bring the Axle and it's parts to the LBS, might the repair shop have this or compatible item to sell? As well as spacers, bearing cones etc...?

If it's a popular name brand hub, then yes, it's likley your shop will have replacement parts or be able to order them. Another option is to find a another used or new hub of the same model and swap the entire axle out.

yes, 5 bucks max if it's a decent shop with any respect. Try to look for the really oldshool shops as they have tons of back inventory to sell off cheaply.

Yes!

The might be able to remove the nut and spacers using a vice and some marvel mystery oil. Then chase the threads with a cutter. I have done the same before and have been able to recover the parts in this manner. If the threads are too screwed up then a replacement will be necessary.

Bike Tools Etc. carries all the common sizes of replacement axles. OEM, better than OEM, as well as generic. I have used the generic hollow axles with great results.

bring your old axle with so they can match thread pitch and diameter
