I have a really old Giant Iguana (circa 1989) with a fixed fork and hardtail. I love this bike it has been really good to me over the years I have logged thousoands of mile on it, and it is in pretty good shape. Now to the point, I am in the process of rebuilding it as a road bike during this process I would like to replace the stem with a new threadless model, bearing in mind that this bike does not have a threadless fork, do threadless stem adapters like the ones sold by Nashbar or Profile Designs work well, and does anyone know whether I need a 1" or a 1 1/8" one? I know this sounds like an odd question but I am not even sure where to measure this at.
Thanks for Any Help in Advance
