6spd accushift vs 6spd SIS?
I have a bike with a 6 speed accushift freewheel, and I have SIS thumbshifters. Will the shifters index properly, or do I need accushift for the spacing on the smaller cogs? Or am I confusing new campy with old suntour? I hate indexing! This bike is for somebody else. Help appreciated. Thanks!

I believe AccuShift and SIS are/were different both in spacing and in cable/derailleur pull, so that setup probably won't work great and might not work at all. If you are also using an SIS-compatible Shimano rear derailleur, you might just want to swap out for a new SIS-compatble freewheel: https://sheldonbrown.com/harris/freewheels.html#6 ...
Of course, it seems like people get away with all sorts of mongrel shifting setups, so maybe you should just give it a try and see how well/badly it goes.

The derailers need to match the shifters to index correctly. Accushift derailers will not index well with SIS shifters and SIS derailers will not index well with Accushift shifters.
The spacing of Accushift and SIS 6-speed freewheels is different but not by that much. I have successfully used an Accushift 6-speed freewheel with SIS 6-speed shifters and derailers.

I had this same setup. The shifting worked fine except when upshifting to 4th gear, (from lower/larger gear). When I wanted 4th gear, I would have to shift to 5 and then back to 4.
I got tired of that so I put on a friction shifter and now all is good.

i've generally found that you can interchange the two with decent success, assuming everything is in working order.
