Rear brake to front w/ extra long nut?

Rear brake to front w/ extra long nut?
A question for those that may have tried this:
I've got a really nice rear brake (recessed mounting) that I'd like to use as a front brake. The mounting bolt on the rear brake measures 12mm, and the mounting bolt of a front brake is usually 32mm.
Problem Solvers offers an extra long mounting nut that measures 30mm long. Since a standard mounting nut is 10mm, I think the extra long nut would reach far enough into my fork to engage the threads on the shorter mounting bolt of the rear brake.
Has anyone tried this setup? Does anyone see a flaw in my thinking? I realize that the ideal solution is to replace the mounting bolt on the brake (it's a sidepull), but an $8 extra long nut would be preferable to a $40 replacement center bolt.

Sounds like it would work to me. It looks to me like you can find out for sure for the price of a nut.

i've done it many times, it generally works fine. i like to measure the width of the fork crown or at least get some sort of visual of how many threads are engaging for safety.

If you can engage a length of at least the bolt's diameter (6mm in this case or six complete turns of the nut) you should be fine. Long nuts are routinely used to mount standard front brakes on carbon forks with thicker than normal crowns and they work fine.
