Is my Specialized Transition missing the cable guide underneath the BB?
I got a Transition frame that I plan to build. I noticed it doesn't have a plastic guide under the BB area. There is a hole, and it looks threaded, I don't think it's a drainage hole. If so, are these things pretty much standard, or do I need to get one from Specialized/Specialized dealer?
As you can tell, I'm a newbie at this.

I assume the hole is threaded, for the same size threads as the bolts that go into your water bottle bosses. You can test this pretty easily. Anyway, lots of bikes come with this sort of setup, and a plastic cable-guide is supposed to be bolted onto the outside of the bottom bracket. Most bike shops have lots of these floating around and will give you one for free. If you can't get ahold of one, PM me and I can mail one to you. I've got three extras. Note that you'll need a short bolt, otherwise it'll run into the bottom bracket shell and stop being able to be tightened.

When you buy a set of shifters/brakes, the box usually comes with cables, cable housing, and miscellaneous parts like ferrules, cable ends, and a bottom bracket cable guide.
BTW, not all bikes have standard bottom bracket cable guide fasteners. Cannondale has a proprietary guide that snaps into place. No screw.
