Replace Suntour XCT Derailleur?

Laying out my ignorance for all....

My rear derailleur, Suntour XCT, on my Schwinn Criss Cross is pretty much shot (my mechanic says the spring has lost it's tension), and I'm wondering what my options are for replacing it. Would this work:

https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7212381688

? (I have eight sprockets.)

If not, any suggestions? The bike has all stock components otherwise, including levers and sprockets. I'm actually weighing the cost of keeping this beast running vs. buying a new bike, as repairs seem to be coming awfully frequently now.

Thanks for any help!

Mixing Shimano and Suntour index components is problematic. You really need a Suntour derailer. You can find them on eBay. The yellow Jersey has them, but the price is high. I was going to offer to send you a Suntour that I took off of a Bridgestone mtb, but I can't find it.

Don't give up on the Schwinn. Old bikes are cool.

When looking for a derailer, you want Suntour, not SR Suntour.

Thanks Dirtdrop, I'll scour for one that fits.

If I do get a new bike, I'm thinking of taking this one to SS so, it'll be around for a while either way.
