cant role shifter rolls up and crashes into cogs.

hey im new to this mountain bike thing i normallly ride bmx but bmx was getting borring so i went out and got my self a Kona "shred" but recently (ive only had it since the 12 of jan) the rear cog with all the gear teeth (not sure wat its called on a mountain bike) it spins with the wheel when i role if i dont pedal the derailer rolls up and smacks into the cogs on the rear tyre is this easily fixed? i think its just the rear hub needs ajusting but im not a real wiz with bike mechanics help would be apreciated.

Sorry, I couldn't understand you, so here is a bunny with a pancake on his head:
    Bikes use brakes to stop.

If your bike has breaks, don't ride it.

I honestly have no clue what your post says... are you shifting while pedaling? You always need to be pedaling to shift.
commuter turned bike mechanic turned commuter (also a Velocity USA employee, but this is my personal account)

it sounds like your freewheel or freehub is sticky and is causing the chain to pull the derailleur up and back. but a little punctuation and perhaps a better description or picture may work wonders.

we ain't too big on aolese in these here parts...
