Chain skip in heavy snow

set out at 3:00am,I Got about 1/2mile and she was skipping.cleaned the front cassettes it work for 1/4mile ended up having to take it really easy,Thank you any help would be nice.

Whayt kind of snow was it? Unless your chain was in dire need of lubricant and was stuck, I suspect the problem was related to ice build-up on the cogs. In such circumstances, it's easier to ride on larger cogs, because more teeth are gripping. So, if you have, say, 30-40-50 chainrings, it's better to ride on 50 / 25 than, say on 40 / 20 (in spite of a poorer chainline).

Thanks guys,for the info The snow was wetttt and heavvvy early november. I have already been on the the slopes this year. An once again thank you for the help.
