Nail in tire, pull or risk tire blow out?
I have thin race tires on one of my bikes and noticed a nail or sliver of metal stuck in the rear tire. I rode it a few times since and there is no leak. Is it safe to leave it in or would that risk the tire suddenly blowing (which is extra dangerous since it's a fixed gear)
If I pull the nail, would it be better to do it with the tire deflated (to avoid damage to the inner tube)?
Thanks

Just pull it out with the tire inflated. It may not have penetrated the casing yet. If you leave it in you will probably do more damage and the tire will have to be thrown away. Pull it out and if the tire doesn't deflate you are ok. To be thorough you should mark the location, remove the tire, and make sure there isn't any damage on the inner part of the casing. If there isn't then you are lucky. Worst case you will have to use a patch for your tube and maybe another for the inside of the tire as well.

Is this question for real, or are you just messing with us Niccolo ?At the risk of sounding harsh -but this is a joke- no?? If this is genuine then I apologise, and might I say that when you pull the nail, make sure that you are at home, ya don’t wanna be playing Russian nail roulette 75k’s from your tools.

A flat tire can sometimes be more then sitting beside the road and replacing a tube. You should see my right shin, then you'd understand a flat can be more then an inconvience.
