need some crank help

i have recently replaced a crank bearing in my schwinn, i replaced it becuase the old bearing got chewed up because i got sand in there. But now everytime i tighen up the crank so that the rod or w/e the pedals connect to doesnt have free play it spins fine but it somtimes has a little tention then goes fine, is this a hint of more grease or what?

Tell us more about the rest of the bike. Are you checking the bearing preload with the chain disconnected?

Check the bearings, not the cranks. This often happens when you've been rawming with the cranks.
