breaking spokes... but only in the rain

i've broken six spokes in the past two months. no big deal, as i'm a messenger and i'm fairly tall. but here's the problem: always on the drive side, and only when it rains. pretty much, if it rains a lot and i ride alot, i'll be replacing a spoke. what's the deal with this? i know i don't have DT spokes, but aside from that, why only in the rain?

There's no metallurgical change in the spokes. Are you sure it isn't because you hit more hidden potholes covered in water?
