Does anyone sell a 10sp Shimano cassette that has a wider range than 12-28? Or, do I need to stick with a 9sp for a wider range? I'm thinking of replacing some brifters and would like to buy 10sp but still retain a cassette range like my current 11-32.

There are no 10-speed MTB components (not yet anyway) so very wide range cassettes are pretty much limited to 9-speed.

Campy makes 13x29 10-speed cassettes and that's as wide as I know about. Shimano's widest 10-speed is 12x27.

Shimano's site doesn't list anything bigger than a 27-tooth cog in 10-speed. You have two other options that you might not have thought of that will allow you to use Shimano 10-speed shifters to index pretty well over a Shimano 9-speed cassette:

    1. Change the cable routing at the rear derailleur. See: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/dura-ace.html#alternate
    2. Use a Jtek ShiftMate. In your case, it would be #2 (DP002). See: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/harris/shiftmate.html
It is my belief that every person in this world has something to teach, and everything to learn.

    Covered here:

Mountain Bike Cassette on Ultegra 10?

We went with the 12-27 and a 26T granny. That's close to the low he had with an 11-32 and 52-42-30 he had in a 9-speed triple. Worked great and my friend couldn't be happier.

Thanks for the link. I'll try Santana and if no luck go with a smaller chainring.
