Was riding all day then went for a pretty hardcore downhill with some big rocks. Im on a hardtail. So after i get to the bottom my chain if popped. I shift and the chain slips back on. Every 5 revolutions or so the crank feels as though if it skips a tooth. I went through all the gears and it does it in every one. i have a few worn down teeth but theyve been like that for a while. It seems as though something got bent on the downhill. What should i look for to pinpoint the problem?
1984 Trek 520: "the Bronze"; '80s Panasonic road bike (innominate); '97 Raleigh Century: "Rubeus" because it's red, and twice as heavy as a normal bike; blue 90's Peugeot Mackenzie :"Bix" (beaterbike), 2007 green Bike Friday New World Tourist.
Is there a bent/frozen link in the chain? A quick way to spot that is to squat by the bike, run the pedals backwards, and watch the chain as it runs through the small cogs on the rear derailleur.
Thank you so much...i was in bed and really pissed becasue i wanted to ride tomorrow and didnt know what to do. I went downstairs and checked it and yea there was a bent link....I bent it back annd rode it and its fine..Thanks so much
