SPD-R pedal service
Hi,
I decided it was time to service the bearings on my SPD-R pedals. It looks simple enough to me - I have an exploded diagram of the workings, downloaded from the Shimano website and have ordered the special Shimano tool required to undo the locknut. However, I was wondering if anyone out there has experience of this? Cheers Ed |
I did mine. Two reasons... I wanted to replace the oobleck that Shimano packs them with, and I mistakenly thought one of them was the cause of a clicking noise (indicating shot bearings). Turned out the be the chain (Doh!).
Any specific questions? There were no unpleasant surprises. My only comment is that it's a pain to get the bearings adjusted right. |
Thanks Roadbuzz, that was just what I wanted to hear
No specific questions - I was just mindful that even though it looks simple enough there may be some trick to getting everything back together that the instructions don't tell. I'm used to careful adjustment of bearings, so that part should be OK Cheers, Ed |

Thanks to all for the advice and links etc. I'll post a progress report once I've had a chance to mess things up for myself ;)
