1996 Raleigh work with M572 cranks
I want to freshen up a 1996 Raleigh MTB, It's my beater but it's time for some loving. I don't need high end, just stuff thats good. I haven't decided on some current Sram components or look for some previous models of Shimano (m570 with m572 cranks).
I unfortunately cannot get the cranks apart at the moment to size things up to measure it up, but I thought maybe someone would have an idea on the bb sizing. Cranks have little life left I fear, and they seem bent a little. The bike is a 1996 Raleigh m-20. It was a short commuter for a while, and was great since I didn't have to worry about it getting jacked.
I know this seems odd to rebuild a basic bike with new parts that will total $300 or so, but new bikes in the beater range don't interest me. It's been a good bike, I don't need suspension, and for the price of a new low end grocery getter, I can rebuild this with better parts than current bikes in the rebuild price range and get some more years out of it.
There seems to be a few choices on ebay under $75 bucks shipped new with BB, m572 for example , I am open to suggestions. I have no preference over brands, just want a good deal and to know what to look for at to fit.
