New rear wheel- things to keep in mind?
Now that I think my friggin wheel that some ******* stole off my bike will not show up anytime soon, I'll have to get a new rear wheel. I want the same wheel, but I'm wondering how I need to proceed. I am not sure what my gear ratios were, so I'm wondering how I figure out how to get the campy wheels I had before (campy vento G3) with my 10 speed Veloce components. Or does it really matter that much?
I found some wheels online, but I just want to make sure that I'm doing this right before I place my order.

The other thing is... the wheel doesn't come with sprockets. So I'm wondering if this is a chance for me to change up my gears anyway. I'm a bad climber, and I want to keep my 10 speed, but I wonder if there are better gear ratios I can go for, especially since I just have a double up front.

Hi. I would go for a 13-26 or a 13-29 if you want some more climbing options. I don't use Campy, so you might want to check those, but I think they make Veloce 10 speeds in both of those ranges. Probikekit.com has the Veloce 10 cassettes for $57 with free shipping from England. That is the best that I saw with a quick look around.
You probably had 12-25, as that seems to be "standard" when people don't know what they have. Sorry about your wheel.

careful before you jump to good climbing cluster, you might not like the jump between the gears you get.. that is the trade off.. optimally a 1-2 tooth jump is nice, but then doesn't give you as wide a range etc..
if your bike was stock, you can probably find out what the cluster was you had on there before you make a decision.. or if you know the lowest cog tooth count you can probably narrow it down..

I'm trying to find out. I believe it was a 13-26 or 13-29, but I never confirmed for real. I got my bike at the DeRosa factory, so it wasn't stock. The day I got robbed, I called over to the factory in Italy, but I don't think my italian was good enough to explain exactly what I needed. I have a buddy who speaks fluently checking into it for me.
*sigh* Thanks.

That I do not know. I guess it's time to place another call to DeRosa if I don't hear back from my buddy. I won my ebay auction, and I really want to get these wheels shipped to me and on my bike asap. I so do miss my roadie in the worst possible way. I love my folder, but I lovingly refer to it as my "clown car bike".
