Bontrager hubs - plz help!

Have just made the mistake of buying some Race X Lite wheels off ebay which are cracked , crack is on rear hub from spoke hole through to flange (edge of hub, see pic), its only 1 spoke and I'm tempted to just ride it - im only 75kg and would think wheel is built to deal with allot more.

My question - can you buy replacement hubs (cant find any) or get this repaired? spent allot of money and pretty gutted right now

The wheel is not built to deal with a cracked flange. The flange will soon break off and the wheel will be without two spokes. The only solution is to replace the hub.

Ebay or paypal(or both) can get your money back. Put in a claim.

unfortunately whilst I bought the frame off ebay, i just picked up the wheels from the guy whilst I was visiting (wasnt planned) - i.e. didn't actually go through ebay hence can't claim

any ideas where I can get a hub replacement? cant find anywhere to buy bontrager hubs, I assume a dura-ace hub wouldnt fit as spoke holes wouldn't match the unusal race x lite setup?

thanks for the advise guys - tom

Since Bontrager is a division of Trek and Trek prohibits the sale of their items through on-line retailers, the only place you're going to find a replacement hub is your local Trek dealer.

Not a chance unless you can show you are the original purchaser and are within the warranty period.

If you paid money for that thing you need to go get your money back. A cracked hub can be hazardous to your health.

Spoke with Bontrager UK and they said they'll provide a hub to my local dealer at cost price, then need to get wheel rebuilt - will see what total quote comes to - notice I can get a new dura ace rear wheel for £190 so will see how much repair bill comes to...

Oh, good. I was going to ask if you'd talked to the guy yet.
