I use a nozzle from an air compressor...quick shot of air under the grip and it floats off. I do not know a low tech method

Again, an air chuck through the little hole is best, just so long as you didn't punch out the cookie type things for bar ends. If you did, or don't have a compressor, any petrolium distilate like gasoline or zippo fluid will lube it right off of there, then evaporate.

I've used alchohol for years. Oh, for grips too, of course. Insert a thin-bladed screwdriver between grip and bar, dribble a few drops of Isopropyl, and they'll spin right off. Same to put 'em back on again. (screwdriver not needed)

The tactic will work if the end is cut...but you have to finagle the nozzle under the edge of the grip and take a couple of burps around the perimeter.this even works on motorcycles where the grip was glued on. I bet your trick with the solvent would work just fine if you had a syringe to kinda squirt up under the edge.

I wedge a thick guage zip tie under the grip then drip in some alcohol.

The Greek father from My Big Fat Greek Wedding has it right. Windex is a cure-all. Just pry the end of the grip up a little and squirt some in. A bit of twisting to work it in and the grips should loosen up.

i recommend not using the screwdriver method on grips mounted to carbon bars.

I just roll my Oury grips off.

Then roll 'em back on.

Well, an old-style tire lever, Finish Line lubricant and lots of cursing worked for some particularly stubborn grips that I removed this winter. For less extreme situations, some of the solutions above sound pretty good .

EDIT: By the way, if you use lubricant, I recommend Tri-Flow instead of Finish Line. Not because it'll work any better, but because Finish Line smells MUCH worse! I never thought that I would get the smell off my hands...

Yeah. On my carbon bars, I either use a tongue depressor...

... or Primacord.

Low-tech Version: Use a can of compressed air.

If you have shifter's/brake levers, just loosen the lever's and push them against the grips. Presto...they come right off.

Two methods I learned while racing BMX in the 80's:

Hairspray
WD-40

Slide a long hex wrench under the grip, insert the red hose from the WD-40 can, give it a quick squirt, twist the grip, and it comes right off. Same thing for putting them on. It lubes it on the way on an evaporates in 5 minutes. Never had a problem with it.

Big fan of the isopropyl "rubbing" alcohol method. I use the long straw/nozzle from a compressed air can. Jam it in the end of a syringe and you've got a nozzle that will slide under your grips. The trick is to dribble out a bit as you work it under the grips until it is all the way in. Then a solid blast and you'll have a "bubble" of isopropyl that will move around until everything is slippery.
