wet lube vs dry lube.........
 

not trying to start a jihad here but i've been a wet lube guy for all my years cycling. i used triflow for many years but in the past couple of years went to boeshield T-9.

i finally got the bright idea to try a dry lube so i bought a bottle of white lightning.

i figured WL could cut down on drivetrain maintenance, which i like to do less and less the older i get.

anyhow, WL works pretty well but it seems i get a bit better shifting with wet lube.

don't get me wrong, the difference is slight but it does seem that boeshield shifts a little better.

i plan to use the WL for at least a couple of months because it is a good lube and my drivetrain is just as quiet as with boeshield. if WL works out for me it'll be my summer lube.

I switched from WL to Pedro's Ice Wax. Still a dry, wax based lube, but I like it lots better that WL. Doesn't seem to leave the residue behind and still keeps the drivetrain clean.

I have good luck (good shifting, quiet drive train) with Prolink. Goes on wet, but dries so it doesn't attract crud. My fav for > 5 years.

There is a difference betwwen dry formula lubes and wax based lubes like White Lightning and Ice Wax. I have been using Finish Line dry for many years without complaint. I tried White Lightning and Ice Wax and found that neither one lasted very long.

I have used countless brands of lubes and none of them seem to last or perform anywhere close the level of Purple Extreme. Hands down best lube IMO.
