Some SS crank help needed
 

I tried a search but did not come up with anything helpfull. I have a Truvative SS GXP crankset on my On One Inbred that seems to have the holes in the spider arms out of position. I have loosened up the chainring and used Sheldons techniques to try and adjust it but nothing seems to work. The chain sags at the 3oclock(drive side crank arm position) and is tight to be almost restrictive at the 9oclock. I have loosened everything up and tried to adjust, I have removed the entire crankset and reinstalled. I have checked to make sure it was not in the rear hub or freewheel by changing the positions (making sure the freewheel was in different position in comparison to the chainring). The tightness has occurred with two different chainrings, the original truvative (which folded like a paper plate on my first ride) and now a Surley stainless steel ring. I know a bit of this is normal but when the chain is loose enough to be non restrictive in the "tight" position it is close to comming off in the "loose" position.
I don't think messing with the holes in the spider makes sense because it will just all shift anyway once I start cranking on it. Are there any other options I have not examined to fix the problem?
Has anyone tried to get Truvative to warranty replace an item? The season is about to start and I have a three ring crankset I can throw on I if I need too, just wonder if I am missing something.

Road rings, at least cheaper ones, are rarely close to round. They don't need to be; the derailleur normally takes up the slack. While your sounds a bit extreme, you may not have much of a case for warranty. You may want to try a higher quality aftermarket ring like TA.

I assume you removed the ring from the crank arm and reoriented it..?

No derailleur, single speed. I have reoriented the ring, I have not shifted it in each position and tested it because it just occured to me to try that. I will give it a shot, maybe the ring is a little out of round and the two problems can work themselves out.
