are most pedals standard, and switchable??
just wondering, I have some older BMX pedals that I am thinking about putting on my road bike.

there are 9/16" and 1/2". I forget which one is standard (I think 9/16"). 1/2 only came on super low-end (huffy et al) bikes, and older bikes.

Most pedals are standard 9/16", but some older 1 piece crank stuff is 1/2". Some old BMX stuff was 1/2", but you should be fine. Just throw them in and you'll be able to tell.

Cotterless cranks, aka 3-piece cranks, usually use 9/16" spindle pedals.
One piece cranks use 1/2" spindle pedals.
The measurement refers to the threaded spindle that you screw into the crank arm. The wrench flats are usually 15mm.
