Pedalling problem

Hi guys,

I didn't know where to post this, so I put it here. When I 'stand-up' to pedal, and obviously put more force into pedalling, my bike seems to skip up through gears. Anyone know how I can fix this? Sorry if I'm being too vague in my post.

- Ralph

It could be many things. Check you rear der. adjustment. It could also be frame flex pulling the cable under the BB shell. Lube the little channel it runs through.

If you have friction shifters, the friction adjustment may be too loose.

If it is trying to change gears when you apply pressure it may be a simple shift cable adjustment. If it shifts to a smaller cog try adding tension to the cable with the barrel adjustor, 1/2 turn at a time, counter-clockwise.

Could be worn chain, or new chain on worn rear sprockets. I had that problem and had to replace my cassette and chain.
