Ugh, why did I get a Shimano chain when the SRAM chain was soooo easy to install last time? Apparently this 9-speed "HG" chain has a guide pin stuck to a "reinforcing" pin which help install the latter. OK, it's in, but how do I break off the bleeping guide pin? TIA.
Note to self: do not replace chain after midnight again.

grab it w/ some pliers and snap it sideways. it should be really easy. They are made to break there. Park has some pretty good pages on bike maintenance. here's the relevant page. shimano is about 1/2way down.http://parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=25
