build up of a new frame

Hello! First, I know that this is not the best of questions, but here it goes. In general, when building a up a new frame, does the head tube and bottom bracket need to be faced (machined)? Thanks!

In my opinion, as a rule of thumb, yes. It probably depends on the quality or reputation of the frame/maker as to necessity of facing. When I recently built up my King Kikapu, my LBS (Kona dealer) said don't worry about it, Kona frames come good to go.

I've never had to face a Litespeed frame as received from the maker either.

Every frame should come preped. I.e. the answer is no. If you have to that is a very very bad strike against the frame manufacturer.
