Different size pedal wrenches?
My bike tool kit has a 15 mm pedal wrench. I was about to remove my pedals, and then noticed that the wrench was too bg. I thought that was odd as every pedal wrench I have ever seen was 15 mm. So, I went to my wife's bike, and our spare bike, and the pedal wrench was too big for them as well.
1. Is it so common to have pedals which require a 14 mm or 13 mm pedal wrench? 2. Do pedal wrenches even come in 14 or 13 mm? |
Yes my pedals use a 15 mm spanner however there are two thread sizes for pedals. 9/16" which is the common standard on road bikes or there is the 1/2" thread that's common on BMX bikes or those with one piece cranks.
Do the bikes your working on have one piece cranks? Regards, Anthony |
My bike is a 2004 Raleigh Aspen, a hybrid. The cranks aren't one piece. They can't be, I mean, one-piece cranks are quite old-fashioned, aren't they?
Since you say 9/16's is also common, and my calculator tells me that that is 14.2 mm, I'm guessing I have 14 mm nuts on my pedals. Do pedal wrenches come in 14 mm? |

Thanks Peek! I have been scouring the Park website for the last hour, I don't know how I didn't see that. Probably because I was looking at stands. :D
Hmmm, I'll ask my lbs tomorrow morning to order one for me when I show up for my monday morning volunteer / learning session. |
