    Thompson Stem with Carbon Steerer

I was in a hurry the other day, but did someone(Fixxer??) mention that you cannot use a Thompson stem with a carbon fork and steerer tube....

for some reason it stuck in my mind and today went to the Thompson site....as far as I can tell from the tech material it IS alright to use any Thompson stem with a carbon steerer.....correct?? I have one on my carbon fixie and would sure hate for the steerer to bust up on me.....

The only reason I mentioned that is because my Reynolds Pro Ouza fork instruction sheet specifically stated to avoid using stems with internal wedge type clamps instead of external pinch bolts........and a Thomson stem came to mind because I use this stem on another bike, but on an alloy steerer.

i thought it was you....ok I see, Easton also states that with their carbon bars and forks...the wrench at the lbs also says you shouldn't use a pinch type stem....but thompson says it is alright....as usual 100 different opinions on everything...

BTW fantastic job on the Firenze...my next frame will probably be that one...elegant looking and with your components stripped looks really nice..
